Dror
Baron: DC Attractions (6.2001)
I was at the
ISIT conference in Washington, DC,
so I had to see some of the tourist attractions.
-
Lincoln
(June 2001).
 |
I must say that I appreciate Jefferson and
his memorial much more than Lincoln, but
somehow the bearded guy is more photogenic.
-
The Washington Monument
(June 2001).
 |
Unfortunately, the obelisk was closed for visitors.
That probably saved me a 3 hour wait in 95 degree
temperatures.
-
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
(June 2001).
 |
-
Korean War Veterans Memorial
(June 2001).
 |
-
The Library of Congress
(June 2001).
 |
-
Smithsonian's castle
(June 2001).
 |
Given that Mr. Smithsonian, the guy whose
vast donations founded Washington's museums,
was Brittish, he probably would have liked
this.
-
United States Capitol
(June 2001).
 |
-
The White House
(June 2001).
 |
After taking this picture, police started
blocking the area. Ten minutes later, a
promenade of vehicles came out, with sirens
and all. The police claimed that we had
just seen our beloved G. W. Bush.
And I'm not kidding!
-
Arlington National Cemetery
(June 2001).
