Canyonlands is separated into three districts.

• The Needles district contains interesting stone shapes: arches, mushrooms, needles, etc.
• The Maze consists of miles of broken sandstone formations. Because it is inaccessible, except for all terrain vehicles, we didn't visit it.
• The "Island in the sky" is relatively flat. From its high elevation, views of the neighboring regions extend to tens of miles.

Newspaper Rock Recreation site, which is on the road to the Needles district, has some interesting petroglyphs.

And flowers too.

Near the road leading north from the Needles and Island in the Sky districts, the Wilson arch is quite impressive.

The Needles district has many stone shapes, canyons, valleys, cliffs, etc.

These nimble goats ran across the far side of the canyon, apparently in a search for food.

The Island itself is quite flat, but steep cliffs slope down to the surrounding regions.

The Mesa Arch is well known, as it is positioned near the cliff. Here, my mother is standing next to the arch.

A look through the arch reveals an interesting view.
