Baron: Sand Dunes (8.2003)
Our next stop was at
Great Sand Dunes
National Park. This park features massive sand dunes surrounded
by lush green mountains. Apparently the structure of the local
valley has trapped in sand, which is blown in.
As described earlier, we had decided to gradually build up
our resistance to the higher elevations. We went on hike on
one of the surrounding mountains, which was covered in flowers.
The mountains are also covered in trees, and here we can see the dunes
in the distant background.
The dunes themselves are quite spectacular.
